The Manchester 2015 International workshop took place on Tuesday 30th June – Wednesday 1st July, bringing together a small number of leading international and UK academics working on the issue of ‘Global Production and Local Outcomes’.

Companies source products through increasingly complex global value chains and production networks. The ‘Global Production and Local Outcomes’ research project aims to better understand how globalisation impacts local contexts. We think this agenda is imperative, as companies, consumers, civil society and governments become more concerned with environmental and social issues in supply chains. Governance actors and institutions face challenges adapting to this changing global environment.

A key question is, how can governance strategies be more effective in ensuring positive local outcomes from global production?
